McClure - John - 1874

Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal Saturday, 30 May1874

John McClure, one of the pioneers of Coal Creek Township, died at his home, three miles north of Pleasant Hill, last Tuesday, of lung fever, after an illness of one week. Mr. McClure was born in Adams County, Ohio, in 1814, and therefore was 60 years of age when he died. He came to this county in 1838 and has been identified with its history ever since. He was an honored member of the M. E. Church for nearly fifty years, and died in full faith of immortality. He leaves a wife and two children. The funeral procession, about a mile in length, was but an evidence of the esteem in which he was held by the people of that part of the county. =s
